Welcome to the Washington, D.C. (DC) Optimization of Airspace and Procedures in the Metroplex (DC OAPM) Environmental Assessment Website

The FAA has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the DC OAPM Project in accordance with FAA Order 1050.1E. The FAA issued a Finding of No Significant Impact and Record of Decision (FONSI-ROD)for the project on December 30, 2013.

The EA and FONSI-ROD as well as other related documents can be accessed using the links to the left.

The Project

The DC OAPM Project would improve the efficiency of the national airspace system in the Washington, D.C. Metroplex by optimizing aircraft arrival and departure procedures at a number of airports, including the Dulles International Airport (IAD), Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), Richmond International Airport (RIC), and Andrews Air Force Base (ADW). The project may involve changes in aircraft flight paths and altitudes in certain areas, but would not require any ground disturbance or increase the number of aircraft operations within the Washington, D.C. airspace.
